At Reno Family Eye Care, we’re committed to providing every patient with personalized, high-quality eye care. To help your visit go smoothly, please review the following information before your appointment.
Appointment Changes and Cancellations
If you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, please notify us at least 24 business hours in advance so we can offer the time to another patient.
-
A $50 fee will apply for late changes or missed appointments.
Arriving on Time
Please plan to arrive 10 minutes early to check in and complete any necessary paperwork. If you arrive 10 minutes or more past your scheduled time, you may be asked to reschedule your appointment.
Payment Options
We accept various forms of payment. To help keep costs down, we encourage payment by debit or cash to avoid the 3% surcharge on credit card transactions.
Insurance and Billing Information
Our goal is to help you understand how your eye exam may be billed. While we do our best to provide accurate estimates, your final out-of-pocket cost may vary depending on the services performed and how your insurance processes your claim.
All comprehensive eye exams include a screening of your eye health. If your chief complaint or reason for visit is medically driven—for example, symptoms such as dryness, redness, pain, flashes, floaters, or changes related to diabetes—your exam will be considered medical and billed to your medical insurance. A routine wellness exam screens for potential medical issues but does not include management or treatment of medical findings. If you would like to discuss or begin treatment for a medical condition during your wellness exam, the visit will then be billed as a medical examination, which may be subject to your medical insurance copay, deductible, or co-insurance. If we are not in-network with your medical plan, those services will be your responsibility.
As the policyholder, you are responsible for understanding your insurance benefits and reaching out to your insurance company directly with any claim or coverage questions. Any unpaid or denied charges remain the responsibility of the patient and may be subject to administrative fees or collections if unpaid.
Retinal Imaging
As part of our standard of care, we perform retinal imaging on every patient to ensure a thorough evaluation of eye health. This advanced screening provides a detailed view of the back of your eye and helps with early detection of eye and systemic conditions.
-
The fee for retinal imaging is $39, which is typically not covered by insurance.
-
If medically indicated, additional retinal testing may be billed through your medical insurance, depending on your plan’s coverage.
Contact Lens Follow Examinations
If you are returning to our office for a contact lens follow-up exam, either after a insertion-and-removal training or if you are experiencing any issues with your contacts, we ask that you please be wearing your lenses for at least 2 hours prior to your appointment.
Frame Gallery
Check out our large inventory of frame styles through our online Frame Gallery prior to your appointment. You can “heart” the styles you like as you browse. A list of styles will then be compiled, and you can then send your “wish list” to our optical team to have while you are here for eye examination.
We’re happy to answer any questions before your visit. Thank you for helping us maintain a high standard of care and for trusting us with your vision and eye health!

Please note that on the first Friday of every month, our office will open at 10 AM to allow time for staff training.
