1. Use your insurance benefits. Many health and eye insurance benefits operate on an annual basis, from January 1 to December 31. If you haven’t used your benefits yet this year, don’t let them go to waste!
2. You may have already met your medical insurance deductible. Your deductible (the amount you have to pay out-of-pocket before health insurance picks up the bill) will reset at the start of the year. If you’ve already satisfied your deductible, now is the time to get your medical check ups for dry eye, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
3. Use your Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). FSAs are a use-it-or-lose benefit. If you fail to use the money you deposited into the account before the year is up, you lose the funds.
